My Blogging Adventure Begins
I was posting on some microblogging site about my recent attempts at recovering my desktop customizations on KDE Plasma after my Linux distro has moved to the new version. It was a series of posts that documented the piecemeal changes I’ve made in an effort to regain the look and feel I had in the previous version. I didn’t think much about this as I was content in showing my progress until someone suggested I make a blog about it.
And so here I am. No, wait, not yet.
I first made a different post about the two questions that I then faced:
- Where do I post my blog? Would it be self-hosted? Or will I have to find a place like WordPress.com?
- If I were to somehow self-host my blog, how will I do it?
And so I asked someone about it—the very same person who suggested I blog about it.
He suggested, well, this! Astro + Vercel + GitLab.
“Wait, what?” you say? Me too. Me too. I’ve heard about this Astro and Vercel thing, but a lot of it flew way over my head. This guy reassured me, however, that I can somehow pull it off.
But the question is in the title: “Is this the right way to blog in 2024?” I have no idea. Probably not, but it’s a cool thing to try, and so here we are.
